Web Developer – Ruby on Rails Junior Ninja

bunsi.net has an immediate opening for an experienced and passionate Ruby on Rails Junior Ninja. The initial engagement will be 3 months, may possibly be extended to 6 months and could lead to a full-time position to help shape the future of our web application and website. bunsi.net has a relaxed and fun work environment and has a website and application with HUGE potential (we’re not kidding!)

Your job

You’ll help us refactor our existing RoR code basis, perform QA checks, and find every spot where DRY principles haven’t been implemented well. You perform scalability checks and testing to ensure our growing customer base won’t get slowed down by bloated or inefficient code. But most importantly you’ll help us implement new features and functions to make other Web 2.0-type web applications and sites look like they’re from the 1990’s.

Your skills and background

  • • Ruby on Rails Ninja with a passion for building web applications
  • • SVN and GIT are among the first things you install on a new computer
  • • You can type faster than you can speak
  • • You laugh at people who try to convince you to develop in .NET or PHP
  • • You deploy projects into hosted environments on a regular basis, preferably using Capistrano and the servers running Ubuntu
  • • You develop on a Mac and you’re convinced that TextMate or Xcode are ideal for developing RoR applications
  • • You skillfully build HTML templates and CSS in passing
  • • You understand the importance of great documentation as part of the code and on wikis or other means and have in fact made it a habit to always document what you’ve created.

You need to be

  • • Located in the Bay Area
  • • Equipped with a MacBook and TexMate or Xcode
  • • Able to work in the U.S. on a contract-basis
