Company Overview

Bunsi Inc. was founded in October 2008 by Torsten Budesheim. The company is currently headquartered on the Peninsula in the Bay Area, only minutes away from the heart of Silicon Valley. We hope to soon move to a new office in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood.

The name – bunsi   [boonsee]
The year is 1982, a new school year had just started at the Middle School in Schenklengsfeld, a small town in Germany and students got assigned new classes. When a teacher of one class discovered that his particular class had in fact 4 students with the same first name – one being Torsten Budesheim - a solution had to be worked out: going by last name and in the order of the alphabet, the first one got to “keep” his first name for the school year while the remaining 3 other students would have to respond to “new” names. The last name Budesheim, while starting with the letter ‘B’ did not make the top of the list. And calling a student by a name that has almost 10 characters did not appeal to the teacher either. So, ‘Budesheim’ got abbreviated to ‘Bunsi’, the entire class of teenagers got a good laugh out of it and the remaining school year turned out to be real fun. What no one at the time knew, was that the name ‘Bunsi’ would stick. Much longer than just a school year…
